The ClearSite Story: Why We Built Our Own Client Portal

Most agency software is built for the agency, not the client. We built ClearSite because we were tired of clients asking 'what's happening with my website?'

The ClearSite Story: Why We Built Our Own Client Portal

In 2022, we were managing 60+ client websites and running into the same conversation every week: "How's my website doing?" "Did anyone fill out my contact form?" "What's my Google ranking?"

Every one of those questions had an answer. But the answer was buried in Google Analytics, or a CRM, or our own internal dashboard, or an email we'd sent a month ago. Clients had no visibility, and we were spending hours every month just pulling numbers together for calls.

The obvious answer was a client portal. So we looked for one.

Nothing Did What We Actually Needed

The existing options were all built for agencies managing their own workflows — not for giving clients clear, honest visibility into their own results. They were either too complex, too generic, too expensive, or required a development team to customize.

We wanted something simple: one dashboard, per client, showing the things they actually care about. Traffic. Form submissions. Keyword rankings. Site health. Appointment bookings. No jargon. No dashboards that required a training session to understand.

So we built it.

What ClearSite Is

ClearSite is a client portal platform that connects to every website we manage. When a client gets a form submission, they see it in ClearSite in real time. When their Google ranking changes, it shows up on their dashboard. When we publish a monthly report, it's already there — no email to dig through.

Every MMM client gets ClearSite included. It's not an upsell. It's how we keep every client relationship transparent and accountable.

What We Learned Building It

The most important thing we learned: clients don't want more data. They want fewer questions. The goal isn't to give someone a dashboard full of numbers — it's to make it so they never have to wonder what's happening with their website.

Every feature we've added to ClearSite starts with that question: What would make a client not have to ask us about this?

Where ClearSite Is Now

ClearSite now powers the client portal for every website we manage. It handles live analytics, form submissions, SEO reporting, appointment tracking, helpdesk tickets, and live chat — all in one place. We use it ourselves, every day, to manage our own site and our own clients.

We're also making it available to other agencies. If you're running an agency and want the same visibility layer for your clients, visit getclearsite.com.
