Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 24, 2026

Our Commitment

My Media Matters is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We work continuously to improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Status

This website aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. WCAG defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

Status: Conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Verified via Google Lighthouse audit on May 24, 2026 with a perfect accessibility score of 100/100.

Accessibility Features

This site includes the following accessibility features:

  • Skip-to-content link as the first focusable element for keyboard and screen reader users
  • Semantic HTML with proper landmark elements (header, nav, main, footer) and a logical heading hierarchy
  • Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements — menus, dropdowns, forms, and modals are fully operable without a mouse
  • Visible focus indicators on every interactive element using focus-visible rings
  • ARIA labels and roles for icon-only buttons, social links, and interactive components
  • Color contrast meeting or exceeding WCAG AA ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components)
  • Alt text on all meaningful images; decorative images marked with aria-hidden
  • Responsive design that works across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices including assistive technologies
  • Form labels associated with every input, with error messages announced to screen readers
  • Mobile menu focus trap that returns focus to the trigger element on close
  • Reduced-motion support — all animations (CSS transitions, fades, marquee, the hero canvas) are disabled when your operating system has “Reduce Motion” enabled (WCAG 2.3.3)

Compatible Technologies

This site is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver screen readers
  • Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge
  • System-level high contrast modes

What We Don’t Do

We do not use accessibility overlay tools (such as AccessiBe, UserWay, or AudioEye overlays). Overlays inject JavaScript that runs after the page loads, meaning screen reader users experience the page before any “fix” happens. They also interfere with the keyboard shortcuts that disabled users already rely on. Instead, we make accessibility fixes at the code level.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of this site may not be fully accessible:

  • Third-party embeds. Calendly (booking widget) is owned and maintained by Calendly. We monitor its accessibility but cannot directly modify it.
  • Older blog content. Posts published before our accessibility audit (May 2026) may have images without complete alt text. We are updating these as we revise content.

If you encounter an accessibility issue we have not listed, please let us know — we treat accessibility reports as priority bugs and aim to respond within two business days.

Report an Issue

If you encounter accessibility barriers on this website, please contact us:

When reporting an issue, please include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology (if any) you were using. This helps us reproduce and fix the problem faster.

Assessment Approach

We assess accessibility through:

  • Automated testing with Google Lighthouse on every release
  • Manual keyboard testing on all interactive components
  • Screen reader spot checks with VoiceOver and NVDA
  • Color contrast verification using WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds
